Wa Ji Ji Village
Year of Establishment
: 1968

​Population: 369 people in 95 households
Ethnicity: Yi and Han
People Affected By Leprosy: 53 (12 with ulcers)

Geography: Wa Ji Ji Village in Meigu County is located about 5 kilometers from teh central township of Luo Er Yi Gan. The altitude is between 1300 - 1900 meters. It is a mountainous area with a mild climate. There are two clusters. There is a new road directly to the village from Meigu Bridge making the village accessible by car. The journey from Xichange to the village takes about 4 hours. There is a danger of road collapse during the rainy season from June to September each year

Economy: Buckwheat and rice are grown in the village.


Infrastructure: The government has provided 'Poverty Alleviation Housing' next to the old village. Not all the villagers have been moved. Some remain in the old village where the homes mostly earth-packed structures.  

Education:  There is one school with 4 classes and a total of 107 students. A new community centre, including a health care clinic, is located next to the school. 

TLP Work: The TLP visited the village in May 2016. The first needs assessment was completed in April 2017. Currently the main work is physical rehabilitation, training of village health care workers and improvement of medical and health care facilities. The village elected a health care worker and community development projects are ongoing.
